Designed specifically for the seven Mercury Program astronauts, the Model 17 accompanied these pioneers on the United States' first manned space flights. Piscitelli has been making knives in Frosolone for three generations, a small town in the Molise hinterland known for its knife-making. The Art, Style and Tradition allow us to give importance and originality to our creations handed down from generation to generation.

Giovanni Piscitelli, born in Frosolone (IS). The passion for collection and hunting knives I inherited from my father (master craftsman) from whom I also inherited the most sophisticated techniques. My knives are unique pieces, strictly handcrafted.

When producing a knife, there are many elements that make a difference. In addition to a difference in value in the choice of materials, it is the labor required to perform certain operations, closely connected to the construction complexity that makes the knife more valuable. The reasons that justify the differences can also lie in the processing of the blade, or of the handle (elements that it is good to remember are modeled and finished exclusively by hand).

The USMC Fighter model is our modern and improved version of the classic multi-purpose knife made famous by the United States Marines.

This fixed blade is 6.5mm thick and made of CPM-S35VN sintered stainless steel with Black DLC treatment, measures nearly 30cm. in total length, has G-10 grips with a three-dimensional machined surface, a two-piece Titanium guard with DLC treatment, and a billet Titanium pommel with DLC treatment.

This unique full tang design has all the advantages of a classic slide-over construction without compromising strength, as would be expected from a Medford! With handcrafted brown leather sheath, it is a true 21st century combat knife.

FRANCO VERNAZZA is a hobbyist knifemaker registered with A.C.H.I. (Associazione Coltellinai Hobbisti Italiani) and this creation of his is loosely inspired by Robert "Bob" Loveless' Bad Bob's Knife, his personal knife. Loveless' original was used during his time in Lawndale and is a unique piece of great historical importance. For that very reason it is so famous and published in tittie texts devoted to vintage custom cutlery.

In some areas of central and southern Italy, it was customary to give knives as engagement or wedding gifts, assigning the knife the task of sanctioning the love bond.

There was a strong identification between man and knife: the lover who gave such a gift to the woman symbolically offered himself, while the gift given to the man could be interpreted as an exhortation to virile valor.

Some specimens of this historical knife also served as protection against the evil eye, featuring the characteristic “dice eyes” on the handle, while the blades were traditionally engraved with decorative and symbolic elements.

The love knives were also indicative of the social class of the family: less wealthy couples, unable to afford very elaborate knives, sanctioned their love with simpler, less worked, and less expensive objects, but identical in values and meanings.

The brand Artigiano Scarperia was established in 2007 by two expert knife makers, Fabio Gasparrini and Alessandro Conti. All products are handcrafted, using traditional techniques without the use of machinery.
