However, it is important to protect it from moisture and acids, as it is not completely stainless; regular maintenance, such as cleaning and applying oil, is recommended to preserve its quality.

Particular knife developed with the help of experienced falconers and especially Horst Niesters in the early 1970s.
The blade was designed to chop up food for raptors and to intercept game brought back by raptors during hunting trips. In the center of the blade is a small semicircular notch that serves to signal to the falconer that the edge is sharp from the tip of the blade to that exact point; the rest of the blade is kept blunt to protect the raptors.
PUMA's falconer's knife is designed to be very handy and absolutely practical, making it a reliable companion for hunting prey.

Buck - 124 Frontiersman Pakkawood 1984 - PRIVATE COLLECTION - knife
The Buck 124 was originally designed in 1966 as a dive combat knife called the Nemo. The model then went into production in 1967 and was offered with either a dive sheath (NEMO) or a leather sheath (FRONTIERSMAN). The knife was the same and has remained so to this day.
In the 1960s about 300 examples were produced and they had black phenolic handles with white Teflon spacers. Then in the 1970s it had a fluctuating production, with very poor sales numbers, until in '73 it was offered with a "Buckarta" (Micarta) handle and began to find favor with the public, with over 10000 examples sold until the early 1980s. Until 1983 model production remained high, and in 1984 a version of the FRONTIERSMAN with a Pakkawood handle was introduced; the 1984 version did not have the patent logos engraved, the 1985 version had the patent engravings, and from 1986 the knife began to have the production date engraved on the blade.
Therefore, our proposed model is from 1984.
Knife withdrawn from private collection - Classic Buck model dating from 1984, first series with wooden handle - Overall in very good condition, with no particular noticeable marks, with a few small scratches on aluminum guard and pommel - Scabbard in excellent condition - Original factory sharpening, but underperforming - Lacking box and certificates - Checked and certified by our in-house laboratory.

ExtremaRatio - Col Moschin Satin knife in San Mai V-TOKU2 - Limited Edition - knife
Japanese steel blends with Italian excellence
For this 2020 collaboration, exclusive of Collini Cutlery, we have decided to propose a series of best sellers produced by Extrema Ratio. Knives made with the famous San Mai steel produced by the Japanese Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used V-Toku2 carbonaceous at 62 / 63HRC for the central plate and SUS410 stainless steel for the two external plates, in order to guarantee a very high cutting capacity, penetration and sealing of the wire together with an ease of re-sharpening. and maintenance but at the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of external steel and by the laminated structure.
Col Moschin model: for this First Production Run a run of 11 pieces was produced, numbered from 1 to 11.
Special purpose cutting knife, specially developed for the 9th Col Moschin Parachute Assault Regiment, elite unit of the Folgore brigade.
Use: tactical, sports, hiking, collection
Blade: integral, in laminated Japanese steel (San Mai) with V-Toku2 (carbonaceous) cutting edge at 62 / 63HRC and external SUS410 (stainless steel) scales
Handle: forprene
Blade length: 160mm.
Blade thickness: 6.5mm.
Total length: 290mm.
Balance: set back to 0.5cm. from the guard branch
Weight: 265g.
Sheath: modular tactical, from thigh or belt, in Nylon
Notes: Numbered edition - cardboard box with Extremaratio logos and certificate - being the cutting edge in carbon steel it is advisable, in order to keep the blade in perfect condition, to protect the edge with a light surface of oil.
As in the ancient Japanese Samurai swords.Rolled steel - imported into Italy by Collini Steel directly from Japanese Takefu Steel - is based on the ancient Japanese tradition in the creation of the famous Samurai swords. In fact, as early as 1100 the expert Japanese blacksmiths combined different materials together to give the Katana swords incredible cutting capabilities combined with a resistance and flexibility previously unknown. It is thanks to this revolutionary construction technique that Samurai swords have been preserved to this day, becoming one of the most fascinating objects made by man. Following this tradition applied to modern metallurgy, today we are able to have technologically advanced steels already tested and used in cutlery also by famous brands such as Fallkniven, Cold Steel, Mcusta, Kai, Sog, Zwilling, Rockstead, etc.
Characteristics of San Mai steel: These are different types of metals bonded together to create a composite that encloses and intensifies the strengths of the metals individually taken:
- Longer tool life
thanks to the use of very high quality steels with high carbon content (VG10, CoS, Shiro) or sintered (SPG2), in the heart of the sheet (Core Steel), the blade, once hardened, achieves decidedly hardness and cutting performance higher than those achieved with the use of traditional steels.- Greater resilience
built with the principle of Japanese swords, multilayer steel is difficult to break thanks to the toughness of the central steel (Core Steel) and the elasticity of the steel used for the side coating (Stainless Steel).- Better corrosion resistance
the steel used for the external layers (Stainless Steel) guarantees the blade a high resistance to corrosion. The combination of the two or more materials used by Takefu Steel generates, on a galvanic level, a structure that improves corrosion resistance even on the wire.- Easy processing even after heat treatment
although steel normally becomes harder after quenching, the lateral steel used in multilayer processing does not lose its softness and allows easy processing, drilling or welding even after heat treatment. For an optimal performance of the blade, cryogenic treatment is recommended.- Improvement of the aesthetic result
The knives made with multi-state steel or damascus pattern at the end of the processing are aesthetically elegant, refined and highly appreciated by collectors all over the world. For more information: collinisteel

Chris Reeve - Mk IV 28 Year Commemorative knife
Chris Reeve - Mk IV 28 Year Commemorative knife
For 28 years, (the A2 round handled) One Piece Range of knives has been an essential part of Chris Reeve Knives. From Chris first designing the concept while serving in the South African Army in Namibia to today, these knives have been used, carried, admired and collected in all corners of the world.
An integral part of the success of this range has been Eddie Myers. Eddie was Chris's foreman when Chris was an apprentice tool and die maker. They have known each other more years than they care to count and Chris has always regarded Eddie as mentor, teacher, friend and consultant! For 25 years, Eddie has machined the blanks for our One Piece Knives. Still living in South Africa, Eddie and his wife Caroline, have provided fine service to deliver the best blanks at the best price. (There is no question that the volatility of the South African currency has helped over the years!)
Eddie and Caroline want to retire. Ed wants to buy a boat again and go fishing whenever he feels like it! This brought us to a cross-roads--do we try to source a vendor in the USA or should we simply retire a - Classic. We have decided to take the second choice--to discontinue the One Piece Range.
To celebrate the end of this era, Chris Reeve Knives offered a limited edition of 250 Commemorative Mk IVs. The Mk IV was the first iteration of the one piece concept to become known there is still call for this model which we initially discontinued in 1995. It has a 7 inch blade with a clip point and sawback. For this commemorative edition, the butt cap is engraved and polished and the sheath has a commemorative logo embossed.

One Piece Knife ConceptThe idea of the one piece knife was born while Chris was serving time in the South African Army on the Namibia/Angola border in 1979. The experiences of military service have contributed substantially to the features in these knives.
Chris realized that the ideal working knife was a tool which was strong, reliable and impervious to temperature and humidity. Extensive time has been devoted to design, and research and development to improve both the blade designs and the methods used in making the knives.
Each knife is made from a solid billet of A2 tool steel. The stock removal method results in two distinct advantages--the strength/weight ratio is exceptional and there is no handle/blade join. This means that there is no area where the blade and handle could come apart--a weakness in the design of other hollow handle knives. The handle cavity is larger than that of any similar knife. The hollow handle is closed with a butt cap made of 6061 aluminum which screws into the handle against a Neoprene "O" ring, ensuring the cavity is sealed from dust and moisture. All the one piece knives are hardened to 55-57 RC and random checks are made to ensure accuracy. This hardness gives superb toughness, good edge retention and allows for efficient sharpening in the field. Each knife is coated with super hi-tech KG Gun-Koteä originally developed for use in the aerospace industry. This coating offers a durable, long-lasting, non-reflective covering. Included in the price of each knife is a hand-made leather sheath. A lifelong guarantee, signed by Chris accompanies each knife.
The one piece design offers the highest possible weight/strength ratio
A2 Tool Steel offers excellent edge retention and good shock resistance
Hardness at between 55 and 57 Rockwell C is not brittle but gives good edge retention along with ease of sharpening
An 8" hollow grind is used with a full thickness back edge. All designs are ground to allow the full thickness of the back edge to come as close to the point as possible, affording a very strong front tip but not restricting the knife's ability to pierce
The hollow handle, which is created to reduce weight, is larger than any similar sized knife because there is no join between handle and blade
The aluminum butt cap provides an airtight closure for the hollow handle and is designed so that it can be used for hammering. Because using the knife as a hammer can be dangerous to one's knuckles and fingers, we do not recommend that this be done unless in an emergency situation. It is preferable to use a hammer
Full depth precision machined knurling affords maximum non-slip grip
Non-reflective KG Gun-Koteä coating gives lasting protection
All knives carry a lifetime guarantee and a damaged knife will be replaced or repaired at Chris' discretion. This guarantee does not cover damage to a knife that has been thrown or used for heavy levering
These knives are used by hunters, backpackers, SWAT teams, military personnel, firefighters and police all over the world. They are also to be found in many knife collections and most of our customers own more than one of our knives
Each hand made leather sheath is designed to fit the knife well, to give maximum protection to the carrier and the knife when being carried. Because we continue to improve our design, sheaths supplied might not be exactly as shown in the brochure
Replacement butt caps and sheaths are available at reasonable prices
Many customers feel that once their knives have been used, they lose collector's value. This is not so as the knife can be returned to Chris Reeve Knives, where it will be sandblasted, re-coated with KG Gun-Kotea, sharpened and returned to it's original condition. Contact Chris Reeve Knives for cost. Please return knife in sheathCR-MkIV -
ExtremaRatio - Shrapnel OG Satin in San Mai CoS - knife
For this new exclusive collaboration with Extrema Ratio we decided to propose a best seller in the world of cutlery, the Shrapnel model. It's a satin blade version but the most important thing is that has been used, for the first time in Italy, the famous Japanese Steel San Mai produced by Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used the CoS (Cobalt Special, considered mechanically superior by 25% compared to the already appreciated VG10) for the central plate and the 420J2 (55 HRC) for the two side plates, in order to have a high cutting capacity, but at the the same time a remarkable resilience and resistance to oxidation.
A First Production Run of 30 pieces has been made.
SHRAPNEL OG is a truly versatile “back up” knife with marked combat qualities. Its leaf-shaped blade is flat ground at a characteristically low angle to a wide, extraordinarily sharp edge. The included hard sheath can be worn vertically, horizontally or obliquely (at a 45° angle). Tthe SHRAPNEL OG hilt design does not include a guard.
Use: tactical , sports , hiking , collection
Blade: Full , Japanese- rolled stainless steel ( San Mai) with sharp CoS to 61,7HRC in cryogenic tempering
Handle: Forprene
Blade length: 90mm.
Blade Thickness: 6.5 mm.
Overall length: 210mm.
Balancing: back to 0.5cm . by guard branch
Weight: 214g.
Sheath: ABS with Tek - Lok multi attack

Clad Metal
It is a composite metal partly or entirely diffusion bonded together of different kinds of metals.
Metal composition shows higher performance which respective materials alone do not possess and the performance complements opposite characteristics of each material, that is "compound characteristics"Clad Effect on Cutleries
Toughness
Like Japanese swords, clad metal is hard to break or bend, thanks to the toughness as the hard steel part is clad with soft steels.
Easy to work on
Cladded structure is easy to apply on such works as forging, grinding, sharpening or polishing to make a sharp blade.
Improved corrosion resistance
Proper material combination generates electrical potential difference and it enhances the corrosion resistance on blade edge.
Better and long lasting sharpness
Steel after forging pressure makes the microscopic structure denser and improves the sharpness and ensures long lasting performance.
Resource saving
As high class steel is used only for necessary part, it is perfectly cost effective..
Easy distortion correction
As the steel is bonded with soft steel materials, its blade is hard to break and the distortion correction is easy.
Easy drilling and welding after heat treatment
Though the steel gets harder after heat treatment, the soft steel never loses its softness, enabling the material to be drilled or welded.
Design improvement
Laminated patterns or Damascus patterns appear from basis materials which are bonded with different kinds of metals.ERCC-SH -

ExtremaRatio - Culter Venatorius - Limited Edition - Hunting Knife
Extrema Ratio is proud to present the Culter Venatorius that, so as not to contradict the current address is a technical knife, practical, perhaps a bit 'specialized and that gives a nod to tradition and to the tastes of the most traditionalist hunters who like to do everything yourself.
The Latin motto engraved on the blade reads:
"I am the hunting knife, I am the claw beak and fang of my master. My job is as old as the flesh and blood.", We find that describes significantly the pure essence of the instrument.
We feel to say that if a tool could be capable of humor probably would have added: "It 'a dirty job ... but someone has to do it ...".
The Culter Venatorius, more than a knife, is a complete equipment for slaughtering and skinning of medium and medium-large sized prey, suitable for ungulate hunters.
The kit includes: a knife to slaughter and general use, one skinner provided with cross handle to skin and clean the internal organs the animal, a carver to skin head and snout and a stone with two grains for regrinding of all instruments.
These accessories are contained in the sleeve pocket leather fat-crafted.
The sheath while maintaining the traditional lines, is completely reversible (both the pocket that the passer can be disassembled and applied on the other face of the sheath) and to secure the side which holds the knife has the ambidextrous release. The sheath is handmade by a master saddler leather first-aged choice.
And 'possible to bring the sheath is vertical to the belt connected to the leg, which in a comfortable horizontal position, the shoulder or stopped at the waist with a long belt kit with buckle and snap hooks.
The handle in cocobolo oiled is long enough to allow the use of the knife as a little machete or chopper and thin enough to allow precision cuts.
The blade is in the classic Bohler N690, an excellent steel chrome molybdenum vanadium and cobalt which deserved to become a standard in technical and professional cutlery.
The finish is satin.
The Culter Venatorius is dedicated to all those who wish an Extrema Ratio as batting partner.
