What is the best tool for splitting wood? For camping, we think the best tool is the Froe 108 Compadre. The froe is designed for clearing, heavy cutting, splitting and beating. Full tang 5160 spring steel runs the entire length of the froe, which measures 42.5 cm, giving it excellent shock-absorption capacity and increasable strength. The 24.1 cm long cutting edge is perfect for splitting, but also lends itself to detailed work. The Cerakote Cobalt coating offers increased durability and corrosion resistance. The ergonomic handle is made of natural canvas Micarta, which ensures a superior grip even in wet conditions. This is the strongest (thickest) knife we've ever made. The strength of this 3/8" thick piece of 5160 spring steel is impressive. It has a full handle, covered in tan burlap Micarta grips.

As the name suggests, the 'Lil Roughneck' is very similar to the tough dudes who do the hard, heavy work of oil rigs. The term Roughneck is now a commonly known term associated with rough and tough guys.

Roughnecks are strong-willed, hardworking, and keep on 'hanging in'. With that in mind... this is definitely a special knife for a special boy.
