Laguiole knives, originating from the village of Laguiole in France, date back to the 19th century. First created by Pierre-Jean Calmels in 1829, the knives were used by local shepherds and farmers. The original design was inspired by Spanish Navaja knives and included a folding blade. Over time, the iconic bee symbol, considered a mark of quality, was added. The craft tradition has evolved, but Laguiole knives have remained a symbol of French elegance and craftsmanship. Today, they are made both by hand and industrially, maintaining their status as prized and sought-after items.
