“Expat” is a real person. An instructor, adventurer, world traveler and many other things mixed together. While working in some of the most dangerous areas of South America, Expat contacted ESEE seeking jungle survival training in extreme scenarios. Thus began a close partnership that has now lasted for more than 15 years.

Expat has traveled thousands of miles around the Third World, sometimes with the ESEE team, but always with ESEE products. From armored caravans in Colombia and expeditions to the Himalayas, to earthquakes in El Salvador and hunting in the Balkans, ESEE knives have been a constant companion. He has been a student, translator and instructor for Randall's Adventure Training. The Black Caiman is a tactical knife that Extrema Ratio, the official supplier of the Comsubin, developed and delivered to the G.O.I. (Gruppo Operativo Incursori) of the Italian Navy. Its name evokes and pays homage to the heroic Black Caimans of the Piave, a department of Royal Navy Arditi and other components on a volunteer basis, who during World War I swam across the Piave River to carry out raids into enemy territory.

The titanium clip can be positioned at three different angles on either side to allow for maximum customization of the port. Its shape is designed to minimize the bulk of the grip outside the pocket.

The Black Caiman is a tactical knife that Extrema Ratio, the official supplier of the Comsubin, developed and delivered to the G.O.I. (Gruppo Operativo Incursori) of the Italian Navy. Its name evokes and pays homage to the heroic Black Caimans of the Piave, a department of Royal Navy Arditi and other components on a volunteer basis, who during World War I swam across the Piave River to carry out raids into enemy territory.

The titanium clip can be positioned at three different angles on either side to allow for maximum customization of the port. Its shape is designed to minimize the bulk of the grip outside the pocket.

The Ant is the most compact among Extrema Ratio's folding knives. Despite its small size, this model features an extremely sturdy, durable, and reliable structure.

The Ant Rescue, unlike other versions, has a cheek piece in red coloration that allows the operator to more easily locate the knife in case of a fall. This version is equipped with a specific serration that allows cutting ropes and even high-tensile aramid materials. Moreover, this model has a tapered tang that serves as an emergency screwdriver. The Ant Rescue has been developed according to the needs expressed by the "Italian Army Alpine Troops School".

The handle is made of two different elements: the cheek piece crafted from anodized anticorodal aluminum and the hardened steel frame which also serves as the blade lock (Frame Lock System). This mechanism involves a part of the frame bending inward to firmly secure the blade in the open position, enhancing the user's safety during the knife's use.

Thanks to its structure, RAO C is a tool that despite its small size, manages to guarantee the same qualities of robustness and reliability as its big brother while offering better portability and manageability.

The locking mechanism on opening is particularly strong as it is assisted by a safety system that turns it into a true fixed blade. The primary safety on the blade is activated by raising and lowering the locking pin. To provide the user with maximum safety in use, a practical and quick secondary safety has been applied, which can be activated simply by moving the locking pin horizontally.

For the purpose of lightening the steel frames, a template was laser-cut from the profile of the RAO C, which was then used to make a gadget that is delivered with the knife.

This line of knives fits between the Basic Folders series and the Heavy Folders series. The typical mechanism of the series is the LINER-LOCK. The overall structure is robust. All knives in the MF series have a rear glass breaker. They also feature the innovation of the adjusting locknut on the blade fixing pivot.

By removing the locknut it is possible to tighten or loosen the central pivot as desired, to achieve the desired opening fluidity. It will be enough to lock the pivot screw with the locknut to fix the adjustment. The hemispherical milling on the handles facilitate the change of grip from "saber grip" to "reverse grip". The clip is reversible.

The BC (Belt Cutter) version features a rear seatbelt cutter with an easily obtainable and replaceable industrial cutter blade. Extrema Ratio Misericordia Desert, which preserves intact all the features of the famous Misericordia model adopted by the 4th Alpine Parachute Regiment, derives from the commemorative dagger made on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the 4th Alpine Regiment and the 70th since the founding of the Alpine Paratroopers.

It is a tactical-type fixed-blade knife designed for those instances when the knife must be extremely light and compact. The new desert coloring also makes this model available in a shade in line with the most common needs of modern operational departments.

The blade is milled from Böhler N690 steel, hardened to 58 HRC for the best balance of edge retention and strength, is 118 mm long, 4mm thick, and has a flat edge. The weight of the knife is just 87g. The profile is a spear point type, with a full-length shank that makes it even lighter and with a ¾-length false counterblade. The finish is a stone washed type.

The knife's polymer handle features classic Extrema Ratio shells that make for a more secure grip and is attached to the tang by a through-screw. On the rear end the handle flows connecting with a wide ring equipped with a "skull crusher" appendage: a ring that allows the use of martial arts techniques and ensures the hand a very solid grip. In this version the handle is in Desert coloring.

Since this is a knife designed for professional use, much attention has been paid to ease of carrying, accessibility and extraction in case of need. Sethlans Expeditions, as well as the Sethlans model from which it derives, is a fixed blade work knife designed to deal with a wide range of situations, but also as a backup blade. The Sethlans Expeditions has been designed in collaboration with Daniele Dal Canto, Master Advanced F.I.S.S. (Federazione italiana survival sportivo e sperimentale) instructor.

Sethlans Expeditions has a Böhler N690 steel blade heat treated to 58 HRC with MIL-C-13924 burnishing and stone washed surface treatment (Dark Stone finish). The knife comes with desert colored G10 grips that feature the ergonomic design characteristic of Extrema Ratio handles. They can be removed to free the skeleton structure of the knife, allowing maximum lightness with minimum thickness.

For lovers of extreme customization, the full-tang structure allows the handle to be covered with paracord. The sheath is composed of a very light and minimalist Kydex part. It can be disassembled and can be adapted to both left- and right-handed people. NON-automatic version of the Caimano Nero model

The Black Caiman is a tactical knife that Extrema Ratio, official supplier of Comsubin, has developed and delivered to the G.O.I. (Gruppo Operativo Incursori) of the Italian Navy. Its name recalls and pays homage to the heroic Caimani Neri del Piave, a department of Arditi of the Regia Marina and other components on a voluntary basis, which during the First World War crossed the Piave River by swimming to carry out raids in enemy territory.

Spear Point" 4 mm blade with asymmetrical rounding and partial sharpening of the counterbore to increase the penetration coefficient. The toothing on the blade allows you to cut cables and fabrics with high resistance preserving the sharpness.

It is a medium folder with a robust structure. The thick aluminum cheeks, thanks to the many processes of removal make the knife light and balanced. The end of the handle, which recalls the shape of the Helix/Timon group of the slow running torpedo (S.L.C.), serves to improve the grip for the rapid extraction of the knife from the pocket.

The DLC-coated titanium clip can be positioned at three different angles on either side to allow for maximum customization of the carry. Its shape is designed to minimize the bulk of the handle outside the pocket.

Among its endowments, besides the carbide glass breaker, there is also a safety, that when inserted, preserves from a dangerous accidental closing of the blade.

The BF2 is a "full size" lockable particularly suitable for professional use by military and police operators in the field. The handle is firm and comfortable; the clip, reversible and enveloping, becomes a useful and comfortable support for the thumb in "reverse grip". The grip is full with the characteristic lowered surfaces to engage the opening "pins" without protruding from the profile of the closed knife. The blade, available in a drop or a lot version, has a flat edge and, as in the BF1, a particularly thick and resistant tip. The blade locking mechanism is the tested LINER-LOCK, assisted by a safety mechanism to be operated manually protected by a casing.

Il BF2 è un chiudibile “full size” particolarmente indicato per l’impiego professionale da parte di operatori militari e di polizia sul campo. L’impugnatura è salda e confortevole; la clip, reversibile ed avvolgente, diventa un utile e comodo appoggio per il pollice in “reverse grip”. The "Extrema Ratio Sethlans" is a fixed blade work knife created to face a wide range of situations, suitable for survival, bushcraft, prepping, but also as a backup blade. The Sethlans is available in two versions with two different types of steel.

Black version that uses D2 steel, heat treated and cryogenically treated at 60 HRC, which has a high resharpening capacity even with makeshift tools. To give greater qualities of hardness and resistance, the blade is coated with the new Teflon-based product "EXP DARK", proposed by Extrema Ratio.

The knife comes with G10 grips that feature the ergonomic design characteristic of Extrema Ratio handles. They can be removed by releasing the skeletonized structure of the knife, which allows maximum lightness with minimum thickness. For lovers of extreme customization, the full-tang structure allows the handle to be covered with a paracord cord.

The sheath is composed of a part in very light and minimalist Kydex. It can be disassembled and can be adapted for both left and right handed users. The Extrema Ratio Misericordia was adopted by the 4th Alpine Paratroopers Regiment which helped develop and test the product. It is a tactical fixed blade knife, extremely light and compact, it can be used both as a main knife or as a backup blade.

The blade is made of Böhler N690 steel, heat-treated to a hardness of 58 HRc, it is 118 mm long, 4mm thick and has a flat edge.

The profile is of the spear point type, with a full length fuller which makes the blade even lighter and with a false counter-thread at ¾ length. The blade is available with the classic Extrema Ratio MIL-C-13924 black finish.

The handle in fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) features the classic Extrema Ratio recesses that make the grip safer and is fixed to the tang by means of a through screw.

On the rear end the handle flows connecting with a large ring, which allows the use of martial arts techniques and ensures a very solid grip to the hand, equipped with a "skull crusher" appendix in hard metal.

The overall weight of the knife is just 87g. Being a knife designed for professional use, much attention has been paid to ease of port, accessibility and extraction in case of need. The knife is secured to the sheath by a quick-release safety catch that can be easily reversed for use by left-handers.

The sheath is made of highly resistant Nylon, it is very versatile and two adjustable loops allow it to be fixed inside the loops of M.O.L.L.E.

The sheath is equipped with a conical invitation to facilitate the re-insertion of the knife while a simple pressure on the trigger safety allows it to be extracted quickly and instinctively.

The Extreme Ratio Frame Rock is characterized by the titanium handle that offers great resistance while being very light. The integrity of the frame-lock locking system is guaranteed against wear by an easily replaceable hardened steel insert.

Unlike its drop-point predecessor, the Rock frame has a spearpoint blade 75 mm long, 6.0 mm thick, equipped with fuller for further lightening. The blade is made of Bohler N690 steel, heat treated to a hardness of 58 HRC. The same is available in black finish with DLC or satin finish.

To make the opening even more fluid and free of uncertainties, the blade rotates on ball bearings. This mechanism allows the user to adjust the force necessary to release the blade from the closed position.

The shape of the reversible clip allows a hidden port in the pocket, making the knife not visible from the outside. The large, solid handle and the well-proportioned blade allow this knife to tackle demanding tasks. Frame Rock weighs less than 200g, making it somewhat light for such a sturdy knife. RESOLZA, a term of ancient origin, is today one of the most famous traditional knives of our country. The name suggests the razor by chance.

It was born in Sardinia centuries ago and has accompanied its inhabitants until today in the daily work of a peasant and pastoral life, following them even when its men were called to war. The chronicles of the Sassari Brigade during the First World War cite this knife among its soldiers' equipment.

We wanted to make a tribute by revisiting it according to our canons, without wanting to hurt any of the prestigious Sardinian artisans who still today pass on the tradition and wisdom of their ancestors. The dimensions and proportions are the original ones of a 10 cm blade, but the materials and technologies are those of our production. The handle revised in our style, the blade most faithful to tradition. In addition to the original, it has the blade lock open.

The particular situation created in the early years of the 1914/18 war, now mired in increasingly complex and protected trenches and fortifications, favored the formation of men who, little by little, specialized in the coup.

Our assault units, the Arditi, had their dagger. It was obtained from the pieces cut away by the long blades of the Vetterli 1870 bayonets, which in the narrow trenches, in the corridors, between the reticulars were only an obstacle. It was certainly a rustic weapon, of recovery, not too beautiful but certainly inexpensive, light, not cumbersome and in expert hands also effective.

Today, on the occasion of the centenary, we remember this important page of Italian military history with a limited series of celebrations of 1918 copies. This version has a burnished blade, a polymer handle and a black cordura sheath.
