This Ka-Bar 1217, made in 1991, is a commemorative knife designed to mark the 50th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. This surprise attack, conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy, aimed to destroy the U.S. Pacific Fleet and prevent a rapid response to Japanese expansion. The raid claimed the lives of about 2,400 people, including military personnel and civilians, and led the United States to enter World War II, declaring war on Japan the following day.

The Ka-Bar 1217, with its high-carbon steel blade and leather ring handle, has the same design as the legendary Ka-Bar knife used by U.S. soldiers during the conflict. The blade is engraved with the 50th anniversary logo and a symbolic image of Pearl Harbor, making the knife a collector's item and a tribute to the historical memory of the event. The Ka-Bar 1217 is not just a tool but a mark of honor and respect for the victims of the attack and the heroes who contributed to the victory of the United States during World War II.

Unlike the standard models, here we have engraving from the right side of the blade, hand-molded leather washers with an aged look, and even the scabbard is made like the 1940s models, with darker leather and steel staple points in addition to the traditional contrasting cream-colored stitching.

    Intended Use: Tactical/Military

    Blade: 1095 56/58HRC carbon steel
Handle: hand-molded leather rings with aged appearance
    Blade length: 180mm.
    Blade thickness: 4mm.
    Total length: 290mm.
Balance: set back - 1cm. from the lower guard branch
    Weight: 305g.
Sheath: leather, with contrasting stitching and steel staple points

  2. Opinel - Slim for Filleting 18cm - Series Parallèle N121 - Beech - kitchen knife

Wood, simplicity, effectiveness: Opinel has tapped into its roots and expertise to create the Parallèle kitchen knife range. The beechwood handle, robust and soft in the palm of the hand, with simple and softened lines, ensures a comfortable grip and an inimitable touch. The blade profiles have been designed to optimize movement and ensure a perfect cut suitable for any type of food.

    Materials:

Blade: Made from full-tang stainless steel, with a hardness of 55-57 HRC. The steel used provides high resistance to corrosion and excellent mechanical performance. The smooth blade has an excellent edge, easily re-sharpenable, maintaining its effectiveness even after use with hard materials like ceramics.

Handle: Beech is the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. Sourced from French plantations, it is hard, durable, and easy to work with. With a homogeneous appearance, its light color ranges from yellow to pinkish. It is recognizable by the presence of numerous dark streaks. The handle is varnished to be effectively protected from dirt and moisture.

    Technical Specifications:

Recommended use: For filleting fish and making fine cuts. With its 18cm blade, it will be useful every day. A perfect tool for filleting fish or making precise, evenly sized slices.

    Blade length: 180mm.
    Blade thickness: 2.5mm.
Maintenance: Hand washing is recommended to preserve the quality of the wood and blade. Stainless steel offers low maintenance, but it is preferable to avoid prolonged contact with aggressive environments (acids, saltwater, detergents).

  3. Kai Japan - Shun DM-0717RD - Wide Santoku Knife 190mm - Red Limited Edition - kitchen knives

KAI presents the new Shun Classic Red DM-0717RD as a highlight. The exclusive Wide Santoku combines the proven qualities of the Shun Classic series with a new and elegant red grain pakkawood handle in a limited edition. The knife is limited to only 3,000 pieces worldwide. The serial number engraved on the bolster makes each knife unique and desirable as a collector's item.

The extremely sharp blade is made of an extremely hard VG-MAX steel core with a hardness of 61 (±1) HRC and is coated with 32 layers of Damascus steel. This combination ensures an extremely stable, hard, and yet flexible blade, ideal for a clean and precise cut. The blade is ground on both sides and is particularly lightweight, making it easier to use in the kitchen.

  7. Kai Japan - Seki Magoroku Kaname - AE-5502 - Kiritsuke 19.5cm. - professional kitchen knife

The core of Kaname blades is made of an extremely durable VGXeos steel with a hardness of 60-62 (±1) HRC, rolled in two layers of stainless steel. The special manufacturing method ensures an incredibly thin cutting edge that reduces friction during use. This results in excellent and durable sharpness, promoting filigree, smooth and precise cuts.

To best design the handle, we combined the experiences of professionals and consumers. The result is a black-grained pakkawood handle that creates a seamless transition from the handle to the tang. The octagonal, ergonomic shape of the handle provides good control while cutting, while the knife rests securely and comfortably in the hand.
