Sheath: -Craftsmanship is beautiful because it is varied
The colours of the materials from which the handicrafts are made may vary from those shown in the pictures.
Horn, wood and cornotech are raw materials that by their nature have a marked variability from one supply to another: that's the beauty of fine materials. Add craftsmanship, where the craftsman's hand never makes the same gesture: that's the beauty of fine workmanship. Combine all this and you have a product that is always different and unique. And always different from that unique and unrepeatable product that, necessarily, we have to photograph if we want you to understand what we are talking about and what we are offering you.

Fallkniven - Taiga knife SK2L - SanMai CoS Steel - ironwood - knife
The taiga knives are distinctive hunting and all-round knives for the demanding user. A strong blade in laminated cobalt steel does not only mean a stable function, you notice quite quickly that the edge holds the sharpness really well without being brittle. The reason is the fine, well heat treated and tempered steel but also the convex shaped edge that is not only strong but also wood-sharp. The ergonomic shape of the handle provides a secure grip regardless of weather and wind.As shown in the design, TH1 is a handmade knife with a handle in the very exclusive desert ironwood (lat. Olneya tesota). This species is not listed in CITES Annexes or the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species and is therefore legal to use. Like all natural materials, it varies in texture and color, making each knife an individual creation. A beautifully veined pattern may look attractive but a straight, patterned handle is actually stronger. Desert ironwood, which grows in the southwestern United States, has a somewhat peculiar quality – it is heavier than water, its density is 1.2 kg/dm³ which means it will sink. If you want to maintain or even increase the luster in the wood, treat it with log oil, furniture oil, bench oil or other type of wood oil containing linseed oil. The fact that the blade goes full width through the handle (so-called full tang blade) results in a very strong and reliable construction and gives a comfortable weight to the knife.Intended use: Hiking / Hunting / Collection

Buck - 124 Frontiersman Pakkawood 1984 - PRIVATE COLLECTION - knife
The Buck 124 was originally designed in 1966 as a dive combat knife called the Nemo. The model then went into production in 1967 and was offered with either a dive sheath (NEMO) or a leather sheath (FRONTIERSMAN). The knife was the same and has remained so to this day.
In the 1960s about 300 examples were produced and they had black phenolic handles with white Teflon spacers. Then in the 1970s it had a fluctuating production, with very poor sales numbers, until in '73 it was offered with a "Buckarta" (Micarta) handle and began to find favor with the public, with over 10000 examples sold until the early 1980s. Until 1983 model production remained high, and in 1984 a version of the FRONTIERSMAN with a Pakkawood handle was introduced; the 1984 version did not have the patent logos engraved, the 1985 version had the patent engravings, and from 1986 the knife began to have the production date engraved on the blade.
Therefore, our proposed model is from 1984.
Knife withdrawn from private collection - Classic Buck model dating from 1984, first series with wooden handle - Overall in very good condition, with no particular noticeable marks, with a few small scratches on aluminum guard and pommel - Scabbard in excellent condition - Original factory sharpening, but underperforming - Lacking box and certificates - Checked and certified by our in-house laboratory.

Wander Tactical - Scrambler knife - SanMai V-Toku2 & Black Micarta - custom
In collaboration with Wander Tactical we have decided to offer their heavy duty, the Smilodon model, in an exclusive satin blade version that uses the famous Japanese San Mai steel produced by Takefu Steel.
This time, in the rich catalog of products offered by them, we chose a particular steel with a carbon cutting edge, but with external stainless steel cheeks. Specifically, for the central sheet we used the carbonaceous V-Toku2 at 62 / 63HRC and the SUS410 for external lamination in order to guarantee a very high cutting, penetration and sealing capacity of the wire together with an ease of regrinding and maintenance; at the same time the blade has a remarkable corrosion resistance and an important increase in resilience given by the laminated structure.

Notes: Each knife is unique and handcrafted - Wander Tactical certifiedAs in the ancient swords of the Japanese Samurai.
Rolled steel - imported into Italy from Collini Steel directly from the Japanese Takefu Steel - is based on the ancient Japanese tradition in the creation of the famous Samurai swords. Already in 1100 the expert Japanese blacksmiths in fact combined different materials to give the Katana swords incredible cutting capabilities combined with a resistance and flexibility previously unknown. It is thanks to this revolutionary construction technique that the swords from Samurai have been preserved to the present day becoming one of the most fascinating objects made by man. Following this tradition applied to modern metallurgy, we are now able to have technologically advanced steels already tested and used in cutlery also by famous brands such as Fallkniven, Cold Steel, Mcusta, Kai, Sog, Zwilling, Rockstead, etc.
Characteristics of San Mai steel: These are different types of metals bonded together to create a composite that encloses and intensifies the strengths of the metals taken individually:
- Longer tool life
thanks to the use of high quality steel with a high carbon content (VG10, CoS, Shiro) or sintered (SPG2), in the heart of the sheet (Core Steel), the blade once hardened, achieves hardness and cutting performance decidedly higher than those achieved with the use of traditional steels.- Greater resilience
built with the principle of Japanese swords, multilayer steel is difficult to break thanks to the toughness of the central steel (Core Steel) and the elasticity of the steel used for the lateral coating (Stainless Steel).- Better corrosion resistance
the steel used for the external layers (Stainless Steel) guarantees the blade a high resistance to corrosion. The combination of the two or more materials used by Takefu Steel generates, at the galvanic level, a structure that improves the corrosion resistance also on the wire.- Easy processing even after heat treatment
although normally the steel becomes harder after hardening, the lateral steel used in multi-layer processing does not lose its softness and allows easy processing, drilling or welding even after heat treatment. For optimum performance of the blade, cryogenic treatment is recommended.- Improvement of the aesthetic result
The knives made with multistate steel or with a damask pattern at the end of the processing are aesthetically elegant, refined and highly appreciated by collectors all over the world. For more information: collinisteel
