 This traditional dough rising basket allows bread dough to rise, gives your loaves support, preventing it from spreading out during the final rise and gives a pretty spiral pattern. The dough rising basket is also known as bannetons or brotforms. The natural rattan cane basket is easy to use. Knead the dough according to the recipe. Place the pre-shaped loaf, bottom-up in the rising basket that has been dusted with plenty of flour, cover with a cloth and leave to rise. Then tip out loaf onto a greased tray and bake. Reproduction of the xiphos sword, used one-handed in ancient Greece often as a secondary weapon after the dory spear.

The blade typically measured between 40 and 60 cm and due to its leaf shape was suitable for both cutting and point attacks. The handle was simple, usually made of wood or bone, and had a crossbar to protect the hand.

It was mainly used as a secondary weapon by the hoplites, the heavily armed infantry soldiers of ancient Greece. Their main weapon was the dory, a long spear, but in close combat or when the spear broke, the xiphos became a lethal weapon for defence and short-range attacks.

In addition to its military role, the xiphos was also used for hunting and personal defence. It was a popular weapon among Greek citizens, both men and women, and was often carried as a sign of social status.
