Particular knife developed with the help of experienced falconers and especially Horst Niesters in the early 1970s.
The blade was designed to chop up food for raptors and to intercept game brought back by raptors during hunting trips. In the center of the blade is a small semicircular notch that serves to signal to the falconer that the edge is sharp from the tip of the blade to that exact point; the rest of the blade is kept blunt to protect the raptors.
PUMA's falconer's knife is designed to be very handy and absolutely practical, making it a reliable companion for hunting prey.

Company History.
In 1938, Rudy Ruana began making knives in a small store in Montana. Members of his family continue to this day to handcraft Ruana knives in the same store. In 1964 Ruana's son-in-law, Vic Hangas, left a job with a telephone company and put his artistic talents to good use, joining Ruana in the business. Hangas' son Mark began working in the business in 1976. In 1983, Ruana retired at the age of 80 and sold the business to the Hangas family. In 1984 Mike Hangas joined his brother and father and the company was incorporated. Rudy Ruana died in April 1986. He was honored with posthumous induction into the American Bladesmith Society's Hall of Fame in 1997 and Blade magazine's Cutlery Hall of Fame in 2002.
Ruana knives are still handmade in the small Montana store where Rudy Ruana began forging blades more than 80 years ago. In an era of outsourcing and diminishing Made in America products, Ruana knives are still handmade in the United States, with a focus on quality rather than quantity. Although some things have changed over the years, still using the same methods and much of the same equipment used by Rudy Ruana.AP-RUAST -

Knife withdrawn from private collection - Used, but overall in good condition - An iconic, iconic knife from the first decade of the 2000s, tested and selected by the U.S. Navy Seals - The knife already when new presented itself with an average low level of finish and with a rough micropeened blade already very delicate and marked, this knife, used in the field by an Italian soldier in theaters of war, shows signs of cosmetic wear on both blade and sheath that do not affect its functionality in the slightest - Factory sharpening still in excellent condition - Original amphibious scabbard, in very good condition - No box - Checked and certified by our in-house laboratory.

Buck - 124 Frontiersman Pakkawood 1984 - PRIVATE COLLECTION - knife
The Buck 124 was originally designed in 1966 as a dive combat knife called the Nemo. The model then went into production in 1967 and was offered with either a dive sheath (NEMO) or a leather sheath (FRONTIERSMAN). The knife was the same and has remained so to this day.
In the 1960s about 300 examples were produced and they had black phenolic handles with white Teflon spacers. Then in the 1970s it had a fluctuating production, with very poor sales numbers, until in '73 it was offered with a "Buckarta" (Micarta) handle and began to find favor with the public, with over 10000 examples sold until the early 1980s. Until 1983 model production remained high, and in 1984 a version of the FRONTIERSMAN with a Pakkawood handle was introduced; the 1984 version did not have the patent logos engraved, the 1985 version had the patent engravings, and from 1986 the knife began to have the production date engraved on the blade.
Therefore, our proposed model is from 1984.
Knife withdrawn from private collection - Classic Buck model dating from 1984, first series with wooden handle - Overall in very good condition, with no particular noticeable marks, with a few small scratches on aluminum guard and pommel - Scabbard in excellent condition - Original factory sharpening, but underperforming - Lacking box and certificates - Checked and certified by our in-house laboratory.

Buck - Buckmaster 184 - 1984 First Production - PRIVATE COLLECTION - vintage knife
Knife withdrawn from private collection, dates from the very first production in 1984 (in fact, it does not indicate the patent engravings, affixed in 1985 and does not indicate the production date, affixed only from 1986). Globally in good condition, it has marks on the blade and handle due to the normal passage of time and the very aggressive scabbard which, containing a spring-loaded metal foil, irreparably scratches the blade both in insertion and extraction - It still has the factory sharpening and comes with a compass in the tang and two harpoons already engaged on the guard branch; lacking instead the box and additional accessories - Checked and certified by our in-house laboratory.
Intended Use: Sporting / CollectionType of production: Industrial
Country of manufacture: USA
Blade: knife made entirely of 425M stainless steel
Blade finish: satin-finished
Handle: hollow, stainless steel, with rear screw cap
Blade length: 185mm.
Blade thickness: 7.5mm.
Total length: 315mm.
Balance: set back from the guard branch
Weight: 675g.
Scabbard: black ABS
Notes: The feature, patented, is the presence of two removable screw-on harpoons/hooks. The function of these is simple anchorage. In fact, this knife can be used as a throwing hook by attaching a rope to the ring on the pommel. The manufacturer guarantees a harpoon hold of up to 600 pounds. The Navy Seals, specifically, had requested a knife that could be used underwater in order to anchor the vehicles to an underwater attachment point, and that is the reason for the total steel construction.CP-BUBM1984 -

Note: The characteristics, brief, are data of the presence of due arpioni/ganci smontabili a vite. The function of the quest is simple ancoraggio. This coltello may be infatti used as the lancio's gancio fissando una corda all'anello present sul pomello. The product guarantees a tenuta of fine arpioni at 600 libbre. I Seals della Marina, nello specifico, avevano richiesto un coltello che potesse essere usato sott'acqua per poter ancorare i mezzi ad un punto de fissaggio subacqueo, ed ecco il reason della totale costruzione en acciaio.BUCK-184
