This Ka-Bar 1217, made in 1991, is a commemorative knife designed to mark the 50th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. This surprise attack, conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy, aimed to destroy the U.S. Pacific Fleet and prevent a rapid response to Japanese expansion. The raid claimed the lives of about 2,400 people, including military personnel and civilians, and led the United States to enter World War II, declaring war on Japan the following day.

The Ka-Bar 1217, with its high-carbon steel blade and leather ring handle, has the same design as the legendary Ka-Bar knife used by U.S. soldiers during the conflict. The blade is engraved with the 50th anniversary logo and a symbolic image of Pearl Harbor, making the knife a collector's item and a tribute to the historical memory of the event. The Ka-Bar 1217 is not just a tool but a mark of honor and respect for the victims of the attack and the heroes who contributed to the victory of the United States during World War II.

Unlike the standard models, here we have engraving from the right side of the blade, hand-molded leather washers with an aged look, and even the scabbard is made like the 1940s models, with darker leather and steel staple points in addition to the traditional contrasting cream-colored stitching.

At 2:38 in the morning on the night between January 16 and 17, 1991, just 18 hours and 38 minutes after the expiration of the ultimatum set by the United Nations, Operation "Desert Storm," the largest allied military action since 1945, began.

In what would become the first conflict in history to be broadcast live on television, 90,000 tons of bombs would be dropped, marking a new point of no return for what was considered acceptable by global public opinion. The imagery that war helped create would lay the groundwork for the long series of Western military interventions in the Middle East in the years that followed.

The Dovo 715-506 stainless steel hair scissors measure 5 ″ plus the detachable 1/2″ finger rest. .

This hair scissor is forged by Dovo in Solingen, Germany. Forging makes the metal stronger, so the hair scissors are strong but not bulky and stay sharp for longer. These hair scissors are made of stainless steel, so they do not rust in humid conditions and can be sterilised in an autoclave.

They could more properly be called 'stain-resistant', as they can stain in very adverse conditions. Stains are not rust and do not affect the quality of performance. This Dovo 715-506 SS 5 1/2″ straight hair shear plus the 1/2″ length of the detachable finger rest.

Dovo defines it as a 5 1/2″ shear. Dovo defines the length of a hair shear depending on whether the finger rest is attached or not. If the finger rest is detachable, the length of the shear written on the blade does NOT include the length of the finger rest.

Its products include professional hairdressing scissors, manicure scissors, shaving products and manicure sets. The DOVO company started producing razors with thirteen employees.

The law passed in 1938 to protect the name Solingen gave it more pride and a sense of security for the brand, as well as an even greater sense of local identity.

The company chose a knight with a sword and hammer as its coat of arms, which penetrated the markets of Western Europe and North America with vigour.

Due to the success of the scissors and razors for hairdressers, the company founded a subsidiary, Merkur Solingen, which produced shaving supplies that were a worldwide success and opened up new markets for the company in Asia, particularly in Russia and the Arabian Peninsula.

Dovo - 715-606 Plain Hair Shear SS 5 1/2″ plus finger rest

The stainless steel Dovo 715-606 plain hair shear SS measures 6  plus the 1/2″ detachable finger rest. These hair shears have plain-edged blades, which are not as sharp as razor-edge blades, but are also much less delicate. They have a black insert for finger comfort.

This hair scissor is forged by Dovo in Solingen, Germany. Forging makes the metal stronger so the hair shears are strong, but not bulky, and they will stay sharp longer. These hair shears are stainless steel, so they will not rust in moist conditions and can be sterilized in an autoclave sterilizer. They might be more properly termed “stain resistant,” since they could possibly stain under greatly adverse conditions. The stains are not rust and will not affect their quality performance. This Dovo 715-606 plain hair shear SS 5 6″ plus the 1/2″ length of the detachable finger rest. Dovo calls this a 6″ hair shear. Dovo defines the length of a hair shear depending on whether or not the finger rest is attached. If the finger rest is detachable, the length of the hair shear that is written on the blade does NOT include the length of the finger rest. If the finger rest is attached as part of the hair shear, the length that is written on the blade will include the length of the finger rest as part of the total length of the hair shear.
