The Amphibian is a true Marfione classic dating back over 20 years. It comes from a bygone era when Microtech knives could be both automatic and manual--in one. This hair scissor is forged by Dovo in Solingen, Germany. Forging makes the metal stronger, so the hair scissors are strong but not bulky and stay sharp for longer. These hair scissors are made of stainless steel, so they do not rust in humid conditions and can be sterilised in an autoclave.

They could more properly be called 'stain-resistant', as they can stain in very adverse conditions. Stains are not rust and do not affect the quality of performance. This Dovo 715-506 SS 5 1/2″ straight hair shear plus the 1/2″ length of the detachable finger rest.

German production In order to guarantee a perfect cut, Coltelleria Collini, with its in-house sharpening laboratory, checks and overhauls every instrument sold. The German company DOVO Solingen celebrated its centenary in 2006 together with its subsidiary Merkur Solingen.

Its products include professional hairdressing scissors, manicure scissors, shaving products and manicure sets. The DOVO company started producing razors with thirteen employees.

The law passed in 1938 to protect the name Solingen gave it more pride and a sense of security for the brand, as well as an even greater sense of local identity.

The company chose a knight with a sword and hammer as its coat of arms, which penetrated the markets of Western Europe and North America with vigour.

Due to the success of the scissors and razors for hairdressers, the company founded a subsidiary, Merkur Solingen, which produced shaving supplies that were a worldwide success and opened up new markets for the company in Asia, particularly in Russia and the Arabian Peninsula.

Dovo - 715-606 Plain Hair Shear SS 5 1/2″ plus finger rest

The stainless steel Dovo 715-606 plain hair shear SS measures 6  plus the 1/2″ detachable finger rest. These hair shears have plain-edged blades, which are not as sharp as razor-edge blades, but are also much less delicate. They have a black insert for finger comfort.

This hair scissor is forged by Dovo in Solingen, Germany. Forging makes the metal stronger so the hair shears are strong, but not bulky, and they will stay sharp longer. These hair shears are stainless steel, so they will not rust in moist conditions and can be sterilized in an autoclave sterilizer. They might be more properly termed “stain resistant,” since they could possibly stain under greatly adverse conditions. The stains are not rust and will not affect their quality performance.
